FLOWERS: SMALL BUSINESS

COST LESS EARN MUCH: FLOWER BUSINESS.
You’d really like to see some big profits for your flower-growing business. So how can you do that? How can you turn your backyard nursery into a garden full of profitable plants? Here are five ways to do just that:
1. Have healthy plants
That sounds obvious, but it’s very true. You want your plants to be as healthy as possible. Only use organic materials, such as organic fertilizers. It’s tempting, but don’t use chemical fertilizers. Also, make sure your plants have protection from various threats, such as wind damage. If your backyard nursery isn’t near a tree or other building, consider planting tall shrubs that can be cut. Don’t forget about pests either. Use insecticidal soaps, Neem or pyrethrum. Remember, only use organic products. And then there’s the problem of weeds. Put down some mulch. Do what it takes to keep your plants healthy, and you’ll so those profits continue to come in.

2. Farmers’ markets
Farmers’ markets are a great and fun way to sell your profitable plants. These events routinely draw big crowds that are looking for top products from the top local growers. That could be you. Set up a stand or booth and get ready to sell your flowers. Also, put a mailing list nearby, and encourage your customers to sign up for it. A mailing list is a great way to keep in touch with your customers. Thanks to email, mailing lists are quick, easy and fun. Let your customers know when and where you’ll be selling your flowers next. Keep the email fun and enjoyable, and your customers will be excited to see it in their inbox.
3. Grow what people want
If you’re growing the flowers people want, you’ll simply get a lot more business. This sounds obvious, but is exactly what holds back some businesses. If your business doesn’t have a product people want or need, why would anyone buy it? Talk to your customers and find out just what they’re looking for. This cuts down on wasted flowers, and the time and money it took to grow them. If you listen to your customers, they’ll be happy to keep buying from you.
4. Restaurants and hotels
Restaurants and hotels often buy flowers to make their entryways and tables look nice. It’s a simple way to bring some class to any establishment. Talk to your local hotels and restaurants and see if they might be interested in your flowers. Find out what they’d like and how they’ve been paying in the past. If you can grow what they want and offer them a good deal, then you could get a lot of business. It could be repeat business too, as these hotels and restaurants will want to keep those entryways and tables looking nice.
5. Fundraisers
Fundraisers often draw a lot of people that’d like to donate money to a good cause. If you sell at a fundraiser, donate a portion of your profits to the charity or cause. People will be more than willing to buy your flowers if they know some of the profits are going to be donated. It makes you and your business look good, and can also make you a lot of money.
These are five ways you can profit with a flower-growing business. Grow what people want, grow healthy flowers, sell your flowers at farmers’ markets, to hotels and restaurants and at fundraisers. Soon you’ll be making the profits you’ve always dreamed of.
